Derek Jeter

1915 Cracker Jack – Derek Jeter

Last winter I tried to make some older cards. This is one of those that I tried. I made a Paul Konerko version and this one at the same time. I realized that I really needed to do some tweaking on this one, but thought that since this is how I made it then it should get released that way. I like the idea of the set, and will work on this one a little before putting another one out. (more…)

2011 csd All Star Glossy – Derek Jeter

Over the last few days nobody has dominated the national scene over his not being at the All Star game like Derek Jeter has. Maybe part of the reason is the fact that he is getting a $500,000 bonus for making the All Star game, but he cannot even show up to tip his cap. I am divided on the issue. I know that he was recently injured and then had a milestone that he just reached. He deserves some time off. On the other hand I found out how much he was making for being named to the team, and I started to change my mind. What does it say about the athletes of today when $500,000 isn’t even enough to show up for the All Star game? I think this year’s no shows will prompt a change much like the tie in 2002 did. We will see over time though. (more…)

2011 csd Preview – Derek Jeter

One of the most popular players in the Majors right now is Derek Jeter. Some of it is because he plays in New York, but he has done quite a bit in the World Series to warrant the attention. This is not the best picture that I have of Derek, but I like the fact that you can see Louis Aparicio another great shortstop in the background. That fact alone got the picture on the card.  A few of the other pictures I have of the Yankee will make their way on here during the summer I am sure. (more…)

1991 Fleer – Derek Jeter

Part of my thinking when I started this site was that I would never have any cards older than 1990. I wanted to keep it to cards that I collected with the occasional older card thrown in. By 1991 I was almost completely out of the hobby. I had other things occupying my time. For some reason I have always liked the design, and one of the first things I did when I got back into the hobby was to get the White Sox team set for the 1991 Fleer. (more…)

1962 Managers Dream – Derek Jeter, Robinson Cano

While looking for a card to make a 1962 Topps card with I ran across the classic card with both Mickey Mantle and Willie Mays on it titles Managers Dream. While finding some pictures yesterday for some Yankee cards I found the one I used with both Cano and Jeter on it. I was going to use it for a Fleer Super Star Special, but thought that it would work here. (more…)

Derek Jeter – All Star

I had better get a couple more New York players in this set before ESPN shuts me down. Jeter is one of the better players to play the game, and after last night I found a new respect for him. During the telecast they talked about how at his age Jeter is actually ahead of Pete Rose’s pace for hits in a career. I have been reading a few Rose books lately so it made me wonder if the record could actually fall. I don’t think Jeter will play long enough to do it, but you never know. (more…)
