1989 Hoops – JaJuan Johnson

The celebration of the two Purdue draft picks continues with this ’89 Hoops card. I picked this card for a couple of reasons. One of them is that this was the year that I probably had the most cards. I love this simple design. It is one of the favorites of my childhood. The other reason is that this is the birth year of JaJuan Johnson. He was taken with the 27th overall pick in the NBA Draft last night by the Nets, and then traded to the Boston Celtics. (more…)

Since I made an ’81 Topps card for JJ I thought I would make one for his former and current teammate E’Twaun Moore. I liked the real card from the set so it was only natural that I would try these for the two new members of the team. (more…)


1981 Topps – JaJuan Johnson

JaJuan Johnson came to Purdue as part of a great recruiting class by new coach Matt Painter. I really enjoyed watching him play for four years at Purdue. He will continue his playing career in the NBA now with the Boston Celtics. He was selected with the 27th pick overall by the New Jersey Nets, and then traded to the Celtics for MarShon Brooks who the Celtics drafted with the 25th pick.  When the Celtics drafted E’Twaun Moore with the 55th pick of the draft they ensured that these two former Boilers would continue playing together.
