1977 Topps – Chris Getz

During his time with the White Sox I really learned to appreciate Chris Getz. He is not a flashy player, but he does get the job done. I was sad to see him go to the Royals, and looking back at what Mark Teahen has done for the Sox makes that trade even harder to stomach. The Sox needed to make room for Gordon Beckham though so the trade had to be done. (more…)

1988 Topps – Chris Getz

I have posted a few Royals cards over the last couple of days. For some reason I just love how their team colors look on a card. One of those that I loved as a kid was the 1988 Topps cards. I really have the Bo Jackson and George Brett cards stuck in my head. I thought that I would give the card a try tonight. (more…)

1976 Topps – Chris Getz

I love this design for the 1976 Topps cards. The only problem is that each position needs a different template. The set does come from my birth year though so I will probably find a way to make a few more. (more…)

2011 csd Preview – Chris Getz

This was one of the first cards I made in this set. I had the front made before I had even thought about making backs to the cards. Then I changed designs so much that the front of the card had become outdated. I finally upgraded it so that I could count it as done. I took this picture late in the game in May. As you can see it had started getting a little colder so Chris was trying to warm up his hand. I liked the picture because it was so simple. (more…)

1980 Topps – Chris Getz

I have been making the same cards lately so I thought that I would try a couple of new ones. The first of those is the 1980 Topps card. I initially stayed away from the card because of the ribbon in front of the picture and the slanted position. For some reason I can never get slanted text to look right. I finally sat down to try it out, and thought that it did not look too bad. (more…)

1984 Topps – Chris Getz

I still am not to sure about these 1984 Topps cards. I guess if Topps can update their cards for the newer sets so can I. I decided to make my own template so that I could make different teams a little easier. I could not get the team font right. On some teams it looks alright, and others it does not. This is one card that looks okay, but not perfect. I will have to keep working on this one. If anyone knows the name of the font suggestions would be awesome. (more…)

1986 Fleer – Chris Getz

I will start off by saying that this is not my best card. I had some trouble with what should have been an easy cutout for the picture. Sometimes I think my old program was better than photoshop. The 1986 Fleer set was another of my favorites from my childhood. It was so simple, but yet so cool. I would like to get a few of these up on the site in the near future. I will have to work on a White Sox version of this card. I might spend a little more time on it than this one to get the template perfect. (more…)

Chris Getz

I finally got around to posting my Getz card. I like this card for two reasons. The first is that it is a decent picture of Getz. The second is that it gave me the idea to put the rookie trophy on the card. I know that Topps didn’t put the trophy on the card in 1985, but I think they screwed that up. I have always loved the trophy, and wondered what it would have looked like on these cards. Now I know. It is amazing what a photo editing program can get you. So far we have had a couple former White Sox players make the set. I am sure that there will be more. When you get used to rooting for a player it is hard to stop. (more…)
