1985 Donruss – Casey Gaynor

A couple of years ago now I saw Casey pitch against Notre Dame. He was one of the Rutgers players that was part of the team that won the Little League World Series. At the time he was also trying to become the all time strikeout leader at Rutgers. I made this rated rookie card of him thinking that he might blow up in the minor leagues. Casey Gaynor

Casey is an interesting pick for the set. He was pitching against the Irish earlier in the season. During that game Gaynor struck out his 200th batter in a Rutgers uniform. Success is nothing new for Gaynor, he was on the Little League team that won the Little League World Series in 1998. He holds numerous records at Rutgers, and fell just eight strikeouts shy of being the all time leader in school history. It will be interesting to see where he ends up playing professional ball.
