1989 Upper Deck – Jim Thome
I am sure that I will come up with a couple more over time, but for right now this is the last Thome card as a member of the White Sox. Looking at the picture I realized that if I could take more like this it would be real easy to take pictures for Upper Deck now. I have somehow taken a picture with almost all the logos covered up. (more…)
1977 Topps – Jim Thome
I am getting near the end of my cards that I have made of former Sox players. As I have said before I would like to get all of these out before the season starts so that I can concentrate on the players that are on the team. I think I have talked about how much I enjoyed watching Jim play while he was with the Sox before. As a lefty I always relate more to other lefties so it was nice to see one that could really hit the ball. (more…)
1988 Donruss – Jim Thome
Continuing the recent theme of former Sox players we have a card of Jim Thome. Being a lefty myself I really enjoyed watching Jim during his short run with the White Sox. He is back with the Twins for his second season this year trying to surpass 600 home runs for his career. I hope he gets it, but in a losing cause for the Twins. (more…)
1980 Topps – Jim Thome
Since the weather has been horrible I have spent the last couple of days trying to organize this mess that is my card collection. I have spent some time trying to see what has become of it. One set from the 80’s that I have barely any cards of is the 1980 Topps set. Of course that explains why I like the cards I make from it so much. (more…)
1985 Donruss – Jim Thome
This is the last of the big logo ’85 Donruss cards that I have already made. I could have re-made the card, but part of me still likes that big logo even though it ruins the card. The 1985 Donruss set is the one that I probably like the best. You have probably already figured that out though by the number of cards from the set that have already made the blog. There is something about the way the black border and blue bottom of the Sox cards look that I really like. This will not be the last of these on here for sure. I think that they really got this one right. (more…)
1981 Donruss – Jim Thome
Today I am going to do something different. I am going to post a Donruss card from every year in the eighties. If the mood strikes me right I may keep going a little. For now though let’s start with the card that started it all.In 1981 Donruss started coming out with cards. Along with Fleer they really started a competition for the fans money. The initial design was pretty simple, but I think it has held up over the years. (more…)
1987 Topps Jim Thome
Gentleman Jim was a popular player while playing with the White Sox. His two previous stops were Cleveland and Philadelphia where he hit many home runs. As a member of the White Sox he hit #500 to win a late season game in 2007. He played two more years on the South Side before signing with the Twins last season. (more…)
2009 Highlights – Jim Thome’s 460 foot Grand Slam
Last year I got fairly good seats for the White Sox game against the Orioles. I always enjoy going to Mullet night and celebrating the stylish hairstyle. What I did not expect when I went to the game was to see a show by Jim Thome. He hit two home runs on the night including a 460 foot grand slam. He ended up with seven RBI’s for the day making for a great night. I got some great pictures and had a great time. It was a night to remember for sure, and worthy of making my highlights. (more…)
Jim Thome – SP
Since the White Sox won the showdown yesterday they get all the cards in today’s short print Sunday. The first of those is of Getleman Jim Thome. This card was one of the reasons that I decided to do some short prints in the first place. I had some pictures I wanted in the set, and why should I leave them out just because they switched teams.
