1985 Topps 25th Anniversary – Frank Thomas

Not too long from now I will be leaving here to go to U.S. Cellular Field to the statue of Frank Thomas get unveiled. I thought that it would be cool to post a card of Frank today. This was another card that I made to over the winter to commemorate 25 years of going to Major League games. Just a couple of days after that anniversary I was back at the ballpark to see Frank get his number retired. This picture was taken during his speech. (more…)

2001 Upper Deck Decades – Carlton Fisk

I thought that since the White Sox were unveiling the statue of the Big Hurt tomorrow I would make a card from the last time I was at the ballpark to see a statue unveiled. Of course it was of Carlton Fisk. I altered the Upper Deck card a little to  make it my own. (more…)

1987 Topps – Mike Aviles

Mike was a player that for some reason I got some pretty good pictures of last July. I moved around and ended up just behind the Royals dugout. I liked this picture, and made this card of Mike a while ago. As high as the bat was I thought that it could have been a ’88 Score card, but I like how this one turned out as well. (more…)

1987 Fleer – Rossmel Perez

During his short time in South Bend Rossmel became one of my favorite Silverhawk players. It didn’t hurt that he was a catcher, but he really seemed to have fun playing the game. I would love to see him play for the Diamondbacks one of these days. (more…)

1985 Fleer – Lucas Harrell

This is a card that I made early on in my card making career. I was playing around with making a ’85 Fleer template when I made this card. I think that I have made a much better template now. This card is pretty rough, but I done like to remake cards. This is how I made it so this is how I will post it. (more…)

1986 Topps – A.J. Pierzynski

This will be the final ’86 Topps card tonight. It is also one of the oldest that I have made. I made this last October as part of a mini set of A.J. cards in case he did not come back to the Sox. I really thought that he would be gone for sure. If Tyler Flowers (who had a card a couple of posts ago) had played a little better I think that A.J. would have been gone. Thankfully though he was brought back to the Sox. (more…)

1986 Topps – Hector Luna

Here is yet another card from the ’86 Topps set. This makes four in a row for the set on this blog. This is the 25th anniversary of the set, and I thought that over the year I could make a few of them. It is a simple design to copy so it has that going for it as well. (more…)

1986 Topps – Tyler Flowers

Here is another card in my series today of White Sox and Red Sox players to commemorate the 25th anniversary of my second Major League game between those two teams. Tyler is a prospect that has been the talk of the team since 2009. I took the picture on the front of this card in 2009 as Tyler was seeing some action late in a game. It was my first time seeing him, and I was pretty excited. (more…)

1986 Topps – Brent Dlugach

Brent is a player that I would love to see play in the big leagues one day. I saw him play for the West Michigan Whitecaps who are the Single A Affiliate of the Detroit Tigers. A couple of years later I saw him play for Toledo who is the Triple A affiliate of the Tigers. Now I have seen him play for yet another Triple A team. He would be one of the few players that I have seen play at three levels of baseball if he ever made it up to the Bigs. (more…)

1986 Topps – Zach Stewart

I have been following Zach for some time now as a player. In 2009 I saw him pitch for the Las Vegas 51’s at Wrigley Field as part of the Road to Wrigley game. I took some pictures of him, and had a couple that turned out fairly decent. I posted one of them on my other website along with a quick recap of the game. That is when one of the cooler things that I have found about blogging happened. His mother found the pictures, and wanted to know if I had anymore. I sent them to her, and that small personal connection was enough for me to check on Zach’s progress from time to time. Today Zach was traded to my White Sox as part of the deal that sent Edwin Jackson and Mark Teahen to the Blue Jays. I look forward to taking some pictures of him as a member of the Sox. (more…)

1971 Topps – Wes Long

Wes would probably not made this site, but I was lucky enough to capture him making a couple of good plays against the Railcats earlier this season. I really like how my small team set for Winnipeg turned out using a ’71 Topps template. (more…)

1977 Topps – Chris Getz

During his time with the White Sox I really learned to appreciate Chris Getz. He is not a flashy player, but he does get the job done. I was sad to see him go to the Royals, and looking back at what Mark Teahen has done for the Sox makes that trade even harder to stomach. The Sox needed to make room for Gordon Beckham though so the trade had to be done. (more…)

1975 Topps – Starlin Castro

I have been missing from here for a couple of days. A new job has really had my attention lately. I thought that I would post a couple more of my ’75 Topps cards today to get things going again on the blog. The first is of Starlin Castro. He is still rough around the edges, but is a very good player. When he hits his stride I think that he will really be something else. I have made a few cards of the future star, and plan on making a few more. (more…)

1986 Topps – Carlos Beltran

With all the rumors swirling around about Carlos Beltran I figured that I had better post this card quick while he is still a member of the Mets. I thought that it would be cool to make some cards of both the Mets and the Red Sox with the ’86 Topps template. This fall will be 25 years since that great World Series. I used some older pictures of players that were no longer on either team, but I did have a few pictures of current players. For the time being Carlos is still a Met. (more…)

2011 csd All Star Glossy – Starlin Castro

I really don’t have near enough Cubs cards for the amount of pictures I have for the team. I am sure that this is something that will change over the winter. One player that I enjoy making cards of is Starlin Castro. He is really an up and comer that I think is just scratching the surface of what he can do. If that is true then Cubs fans have something special to watch over the next few years. (more…)

1990 Upper Deck – Justin Smoak

Here is another card that I made with a picture of Justin that I took earlier this season. I really liked his swing, and took a few pictures of it. I thought that the two pictures that I wanted to use would look good on an early Upper Deck template. (more…)

1989 Upper Deck – Justin Smoak

Earlier this season I saw the Mariners play a game against the White Sox. I had heard so much about Justin Smoak that I was intrigued to watch him play the last couple of seasons. He was a very highly thought of prospect that is finding his way in the bigs right now. I thought I would make a couple of Upper Deck cards with some of the pictures that did not make it onto his ’11 custom card. (more…)

1966 Topps – Paul Konerko

Last year I was focused on making a set based on the ’85 Topps set. I started just for fun making a card of Gordon Beckham. Then I decided to make a set of the White Sox players. From there it branched out to making a set of ’85 Topps cards with players from all teams that I have seen. A natural next step in that was to branch out to other sets. This ’66 Topps Paul Konerko card was an early attempt at that. As I have said before I am making new templates that are easier to use so I am releasing some of these cards that have sat in a folder on my computer. (more…)

1970 Topps – Paul Konerko

Continuing the theme of getting some older cards on the blog I am posting this 1970 Topps card of Paul Konerko. I made this card with an old program, and I made it very hard on myself to make cards of different players. With some knowledge gained over the past year of making these cards I have come up with ways to make multiple cards fairly easy. Before I start on a new ’70 Topps template I thought I should release this card. (more…)

1964 Topps – Carlos Quentin

Like the Konerko card I just posted this card was made this past winter. I had an old editing program, and I was still new to the card making game. I have a new template that I think is a little better so I thought I should release these older cards before I put out any new ones with the new template. (more…)

1964 Topps – Paul Konerko

I have four cards that have been sitting in my folder for some time. I have new templates for these cards so before I release any new cards with the new templates I feel I should post the cards that I made over the winter. I made a few cards of Paulie in a White Sox jersey this winter because I was not sure if he would be in that jersey this summer. Thankfully he is, but I have a few cards of him that I need to release. (more…)

2011 csd All Star Glossy – Derek Jeter

Over the last few days nobody has dominated the national scene over his not being at the All Star game like Derek Jeter has. Maybe part of the reason is the fact that he is getting a $500,000 bonus for making the All Star game, but he cannot even show up to tip his cap. I am divided on the issue. I know that he was recently injured and then had a milestone that he just reached. He deserves some time off. On the other hand I found out how much he was making for being named to the team, and I started to change my mind. What does it say about the athletes of today when $500,000 isn’t even enough to show up for the All Star game? I think this year’s no shows will prompt a change much like the tie in 2002 did. We will see over time though. (more…)

2011 csd All Star Glossy – Prince Fielder

I had a club ride tonight with some fellow bikers so I missed the start of the All Star game. I tuned in just in time to see Prince Fielder jack a three run home run to put the National League ahead 3-1. I always root for the American League in these games, but this year I don’t think homefield advantage in the World Series will effect my White Sox. I hope that I am very wrong about that statement. (more…)

2011 csd All Star Glossy – Chipper Jones

Chipper was selected to his 7th all star game this year, but will not play because of an injury. I have always enjoyed watching Chipper play throughout his career. I would like to see him get a run going of time played without an injury. You can see that he wants to go out playing well, and his body is just not letting him. (more…)
