merging my pictures and cards

Juan Pierre

1988 Score – Juan Pierre

This is the last card of Juan Pierre that I made with an old school template. I enjoyed making the ’88 Score cards, and it was my first if not the first template that I made from scratch after the initial ’85 Topps template. For some reason I always thought that this even looked like it could have been in that initial score set.  (more…)

1989 Upper Deck – Juan Pierre

Yet again here is another card of Juan Pierre today. Looking through my folder of cards I decided to rid it of players shown in a Sox uniform that no longer play for the team. I actually made this card a long time ago. Since then I used the same picture to make two 1983 Fleer SuperStar Special cards with Starlin Castro on half, and Juan on the other half. When put together they would make one complete card. I could have scrapped this card since it used the same picture, but I kind of liked how it looked so here it is.  (more…)

1984 Fleer Special – Pierre, Rios, Quentin

This was one of the first SuperStar Special cards that I attempted. As a kid I always looked forward to seeing who Fleer paired up on these cards every year. I don’t have the access to the players like Fleer does so I have to be a little creative when I make these cards.  (more…)

1990 Leaf – Juan Pierre

Today I thought that I would search the folder of cards that I had previously made to find some Sox players that will not be suiting up for the team next year. The team already looks quite different than it did last season with some changes that fans have been wanting to see, and some that shocked them.  (more…)

1993 Donruss – Juan Pierre

I made a couple of cards with pictures of Juan with the Bob Feller tribute behind him, and had one more that I wanted to use. I had already used up a couple templates for Juan that I could have put this picture on so I used the ’93 Donruss template. I think that it worked out well. (more…)

2011 csd Custom – Juan Pierre (Opening Day)

This was a concept that I was very gung ho about, but never really got it off the ground. I made a couple cards, but had a bunch of pictures sitting around ready to be used. I decided that some of those should be used for this set. I decided to make an Opening Day set with just pictures from Opening Day. I thought that I could expand that to the other leagues I see, but that would be a chore. (more…)

1990 Upper Deck – Juan Pierre

While going through some pictures while I was sick I came across this one I took of Juan Pierre. Juan loves to come out very early and warm up. He sat in left field for about five minutes mock batting. I took this picture during that portion of his warm up. I loved how he looked against the seats and the fans. I had a hard time finding a card to put the picture on. It was such a large picture that it made it difficult to choose. (more…)

1971 Topps – Juan Pierre

Here is the second card that was promised this morning. This is the 1971 Topps card of Juan Pierre. I liked this card and the card of Starlin Castro that was just posted so much that I made the 1983 Fleer Super Star Special out of the same picture. I did not want to scrap these cards just because I used the picture again so I thought that I would post them. (more…)

1987 Donruss – Juan Pierre

Out of all the Donruss sets this one probably brings back the most memories. It was so hard to get these cards around here that we had to send away for wax boxes. Part of the fun of the set was opening up the packs with my father and seeing if I had any of the cards that I needed. By the end we just cheated and bought the complete set, but that was not as much fun. So I basically have almost two sets of Donruss. (more…)

1983 Fleer – Juan Pierre (Special)

Here is the other half of the Super Star Special Card I made. Like I said I had made two separate cards for the 1971 set out of the same picture. I then came up with the idea to put them together on a 1983 Fleer card to mirror the classic Speed and Power card featuring Rickey Henderson and Reggie Jackson. I liked how it turned out so I had it post first thing this morning so that I had it on the site. As with the other card the full card is shown after the jump. (more…)

1983 Fleer – Starlin Castro (Special)

One of the cards that I really enjoyed as a kid was the Speed and Power card of Rickey Henderson and Reggie Jackson. I saw card, but it was actually two cards that you put together to form one card. I had a cool picture of Juan Pierre stealing a base, and Starlin Castro holding up his mitt. I made two separate 1971 Topps cards out of that one picture. As the cards sat in my folder waiting to be released on this site I noticed how they almost could be put together. That is when I came up with the idea for this card. It was a little trickier than I thought it would be to get both sides to line up. My first attempt left me with a picture that was a little off. Using the grid function in my program though allowed me to do it with ease. After the jump I have included an image of the card as one piece. (more…)

1987 Topps – Juan Pierre

This card has a special meaning to me for a couple of reasons. One it is a cool 1987 Topps. I don’t already have a monster box full of these things so I need some more. I may have more of these than any other card. For some reason though I still like the card. (more…)

2011 csd Preview – Juan Pierre

This was the first card that I tried to put on its side. I am still not sure how I feel about it. I like the fact that I can flip a card. A picture like this one of Juan would not have been usable, or would have looked weird on a regular card. I took this picture early in the season when the Sox were playing the Royals. Juan was diving back to the bag, and I happened to capture it with my camera. (more…)

Juan Pierre

Juan was one of the big acquisitions that Kenny Williams made this off season. Juan was tagged to play left field after the Sox decided not to re-sign Scott Podsednik. He started off slow, but has turned it around lately. It is no coincidence that the White Sox offense has come alive and the team has started winning some ballgames. He has played for five Major League teams, and I have seen him in the last four uniforms he has worn. (more…)
