1989 Hoops – JaJuan Johnson

The celebration of the two Purdue draft picks continues with this ’89 Hoops card. I picked this card for a couple of reasons. One of them is that this was the year that I probably had the most cards. I love this simple design. It is one of the favorites of my childhood. The other reason is that this is the birth year of JaJuan Johnson. He was taken with the 27th overall pick in the NBA Draft last night by the Nets, and then traded to the Boston Celtics. (more…)

1981 Topps – JaJuan Johnson

JaJuan Johnson came to Purdue as part of a great recruiting class by new coach Matt Painter. I really enjoyed watching him play for four years at Purdue. He will continue his playing career in the NBA now with the Boston Celtics. He was selected with the 27th pick overall by the New Jersey Nets, and then traded to the Celtics for MarShon Brooks who the Celtics drafted with the 25th pick.  When the Celtics drafted E’Twaun Moore with the 55th pick of the draft they ensured that these two former Boilers would continue playing together. 2009-10 csd Basketball – JaJuan Johnson

The game should just about be tipping off right now. If I have planned this right JaJuan will be going up for the tip for the final time at Mackey. He has been fun to watch in Mackey for the last few years, and it will be bittersweet to watch him play here for the final time. (more…)
