2010 Football – Dayne Crist

dayne cristThis is how far behind I am on this blog. I have some of the 2010 custom football cards that I made that I have never released. This was a set that started as a tribute to the 1985 Topps Football card, and then morphed into what you see above. It was a simple and clean design that allowed me to show off my pictures a bit more. In the end I never really followed through on it, and I only made a handful of cards. (more…)

1988 Topps – Aaron Rodgers

1988 topps aaron rodgers

With the Packers opening up the playoffs tonight I thought that I would post a few of the Packer cards that have sitting in a folder since that Pack won the Super Bowl in 2011. Aaron Rodgers was really the focus of the cards that I made at that time. Being the quarterback and having the ball as much as he does of course I had the images to make cards with. Add to that the fact that he is the star of the team, and you have a bunch of cards for the All Pro.

1991 Upper Deck – Aaron Rodgers

For the final card tonight celebrating the one year anniversary of the Packers Super Bowl win I thought that I would post this card of the Super Bowl MVP from last year. Aaron is a fun player to watch, and he really makes losing Brett Favre very bearable. Who would have¬†thought¬†that someone could come in and exceed what Favre accomplished? Aaron has done that and then some. (more…)

1984 Topps – Curtis Painter

I know that Curtis already has a ’84 Topps card, but that was in a Colts uniform. I found this picture of him while making cards for Saturdays game so I thought that I would hold it for today when the former Boiler quarterback makes his first NFL start. (more…)

1984 Topps – Jimmy Clausen

Here is the first Notre Dame card in the ’84 Topps format. I really like how the Notre Dame cards look. I may have to make a couple more with some pictures that I get tonight. I grew up a die hard Notre Dame fan before going to school at Purdue. That is what makes this game so special to me, and why I needed a countdown leading up to it. (more…)

1984 Topps – Curtis Painter

I thought that since I had made the template for the Boilers with the intention of making it easy to make cards for multiple teams that I should try it out. This card was a little easier to make than the Purdue card. I have an actual card from 1984 to use to pick out colors. If I had to make this card from scratch I certainly would not have chosen these colors. I like the set overall though so I will stay true to it when possible even if I don’t like the colors they chose then. I may have to make an alternate version of this card eventually though. (more…)

1985 Topps – Rob Henry

I finally have internet access again although it is only a one day deal. I hopefully will be back up and running by tomorrow. I have been gone it seems like forever. In that time one of the highlights of this upcoming football season has now gone away. Rob Henry went down with a torn ACL yesterday in practice. Last season he came out of nowhere to provide a lot of excitement right away. His fleet feet behind center gave Purdue its first road win against a ranked opponent in his first start at Northwestern. I will be sad that he isn’t on the field this season, but I am still excited for the football season that will start in a little over a week. (more…)

1989 Pro Set – Aaron Rodgers

What would it be if I did not post a Packer card during the day. I still have a few of these so they will just keep popping up for a while I guess. I was going to just post all Packer cards, but I think that would get too boring. This card really reminds me of a card from back in 1989. I haven’t gone through my old cards yet, but it has to be someone. (more…)

1984 Topps – Aaron Rodgers

This was the first Packers card that I made after the Super Bowl. I have always liked this set so I thought I would try and make a card from it. I liked it so much that the other ones just sprung up. I basically took a card from a Packer Pro Bowl player and doctored it a little. Instead of the Pro Bowl line I changed it to Super Bowl MVP. The only problem is that I can never seem to get angled text to look right. It was an issue that I fought all of last year making the 1985 Topps tribute cards. (more…)

1986 McDonald’s – Aaron Rodgers

This site may shift gears for a couple of days. I love to make baseball cards, and I have had no success with football cards. I tried to make two custom sets that did not look good in my eyes. With the Packers winning the Super Bowl last night I decided to just take some Packer pictures that I had and put them on older cards. I had some good results doing that. This week I will still be issuing my preview set for baseball, but I will sprinkle in a few Packer cards. (more…)

2011 csd Super Bowl – Aaron Rodgers

The last card in this set is fittingly of Aaron Rodgers. Much was expected of him when he took over at quarterback for Green Bay. Following a legend is never easy, but Rodgers has done it with class. He is also a very good quarterback who has now led his team to the Super Bowl. (more…)

Aaron Rodgers

I guess if I post a Brett Favre card today I had better be fair and post an Aaron Rodgers card. I never thought anyone could live up to Brett, but Aaron has done a great job so far. He is quickly making Packer fans forget their old hero. (more…)

Brett Favre

As expected Brett Favre today appears to be announcing that he will be coming back to the Vikings. Who believed that he was retiring anyway? I am personally happy that I will get to see Favre at quarterback for at least one more season. I may have to travel to see him play one last time this season. Of course I thought that I was doing that last season so who knows? The same teammates may be going down to Mississippi every season until Favre is 80 to bring him back. (more…)

Mike Kafka

Mike was drafted in the 4th round by the Eagles out of Northwestern. I actually like this little subset in the football preview set. Some of the players that I saw last season will now be playing on Sundays, and thought it would be cool to show the transition. (more…)
