1984 Topps – Maurice Woodard

84 topps fb maurice woodard

I have used this template to make cards of the West Lafayette baseball players, but I thought about trying it on an actual football player since that is what it was meant to be. For some reason I have always liked this ’84 Topps football design. It may have something to do with the fact that this was where my collecting as a kid really started. I like how this card looks as a football card. If I am out making some pictures this fall for my portfolio I may have to make a few more of these. Maurice is being recruited by Purdue so it would be cool to make some cards of him as a Boiler as well.

2010 Football – Cierre Wood

cierre woodThis is how far behind I am on this blog. I have some of the 2010 custom football cards that I made that I have never released. This was a set that started as a tribute to the 1985 Topps Football card, and then morphed into what you see above. It was a simple and clean design that allowed me to show off my pictures a bit more. In the end I never really followed through on it, and I only made a handful of cards. (more…)

2010 Football – Armando Allen

1989 Pro Set – Ryan Grant

As I said in the previous post today the Packers open up the playoffs with a game in Lambeau against the Vikings. I thought that I would post some of the cards that for one reason or another never have been posted yet. It is funny how things work. When I took this picture in 2009 Ahman Green had come back to the Pack to help out because of injury. Ryan Grant was the main guy. This year it was Ryan coming back because of injury. Ryan was fun to watch in his day. (more…)

1989 Pro Set – Ahman Green

I made this card last year after the Packers won the Super Bowl. Green was a huge part of past Packers success when he came back to help a team that was having depth issues in 2009. He was quite a bit bigger, but still was not too bad. In fact they had him returning kicks right away.  (more…)

1985 Topps Famous Lineage – Dan Dierking

I really don’t know how I missed this one for so long. I enjoyed watching Dan play for the Boilers for four years. At first we just enjoyed watching him on the kickoff team seemingly making every tackle. Because of injuries his senior year he had a much bigger role on offense. Of course then the injury bug hit him, and I don’t think he was running on all cylinders as the season ended. Of course who is? He was still fun to watch play, and makes a great addition to the Famous Lineage set. (more…)

1984 Topps – Kory Sheets

I really enjoyed watching Kory during his time at Purdue. He provided many great memories during his four year run. This card keeps the countdown going a bit leading up to the 8:00 kickoff against Notre Dame. (more…)

1984 Topps – Ralph Bolden

I thought that I would post a couple football cards on this last Sunday without football. I wanted to try and replicate the ’84 Topps set. Earlier on this site I just altered an existing card to save some time. The design is simple enough that I thought it wouldn’t take too much to do. The hardest part for me though was how to make the card a template that I could use to make other cards. Once I figures that out it was easy to make. Easy that is except for coming up with the Boilers colors. Black and Gold would be used, but where and what shades? I also was struggling with what color to use for the nameplate on the card. In ’84 that plate color had nothing to do with the team colors. Starting from scratch was a challenge, but I like the results. I am sure that a few more of these will show up throughout the season. (more…)

1986 McDonald’s – Ryan Grant

Tonight there is a very slim chance that I attend the Packers game in Indy so I thought I would post some more of the cards that I made over the winter after the Pack won the Super Bowl. This McDonald’s design is very cool to me because I could not get them at the time. Where I lived I had to settle for Bears cards. Now through the magic of Photoshop I can have my own. (more…)

1985 Topps (Box Bottom) – Dan Dierking

I had this template for the ’85 Topps football card and thought that I would try and make one of the very red box bottom cards. Maybe I am just over nostalgic, but I like this card as well. It is very red, but does show off the card very well. I don’t know that I will make too many of these, but I might make a couple more of them. (more…)
