1985 Topps Famous Lineage – Dan Dierking

I really don’t know how I missed this one for so long. I enjoyed watching Dan play for the Boilers for four years. At first we just enjoyed watching him on the kickoff team seemingly making every tackle. Because of injuries his senior year he had a much bigger role on offense. Of course then the injury bug hit him, and I don’t think he was running on all cylinders as the season ended. Of course who is? He was still fun to watch play, and makes a great addition to the Famous Lineage set. (more…)

1984 Topps – Kory Sheets

I really enjoyed watching Kory during his time at Purdue. He provided many great memories during his four year run. This card keeps the countdown going a bit leading up to the 8:00 kickoff against Notre Dame. (more…)

1985 Topps – Rob Henry

I finally have internet access again although it is only a one day deal. I hopefully will be back up and running by tomorrow. I have been gone it seems like forever. In that time one of the highlights of this upcoming football season has now gone away. Rob Henry went down with a torn ACL yesterday in practice. Last season he came out of nowhere to provide a lot of excitement right away. His fleet feet behind center gave Purdue its first road win against a ranked opponent in his first start at Northwestern. I will be sad that he isn’t on the field this season, but I am still excited for the football season that will start in a little over a week. (more…)

1989 Hoops – JaJuan Johnson

The celebration of the two Purdue draft picks continues with this ’89 Hoops card. I picked this card for a couple of reasons. One of them is that this was the year that I probably had the most cards. I love this simple design. It is one of the favorites of my childhood. The other reason is that this is the birth year of JaJuan Johnson. He was taken with the 27th overall pick in the NBA Draft last night by the Nets, and then traded to the Boston Celtics. (more…)

2011 csd Custom – David Miller

The Purdue game against the Boilers will start shortly, and since I will be there I thought I would have this card post near the start time. The Boilers are in the midst of the Big Ten race, and this weekend series against their rivals the Hoosiers will go a long way towards decided how it turns out. (more…)

1989 Pro Set – Ryan Kerrigan

I have made a couple of cards in honor of Ryan Kerrigan getting drafted. He was Purdue’s highest pick since 1987 so I thought that merited a few cards. This last one is modeled after the ’89 Pro Set draft cards. A lot of good names were in the original set so the cards are ingrained in my head. When I thought about doing this I knew that I had to make one. I just took my template from the Packer cards I have been making, and altered it a bit. I took the #1 pick section from a Troy Aikman card. This was a rush job so I left the Pro Set name on the card there. (more…)

1990 Score Rookie – Ryan Kerrigan

Since Ryan was drafted 16th last night by the Redskins I thought I would make a couple of cards for him. For some reason the only time I make football cards is when something big happens. When the Packers were in and won the Super Bowl I made a bunch of cards some of which have not been released yet. I may make a few of the Purdue players that I have watched as they find pro teams over the next few days. (more…)

2011 csd Custom – Matt Morgan

After having to make two cards lately to make one it is nice to just make the custom card. As I have said before it seems like I end up seeing Matt pitch every time that I attend a Purdue game. He pitched the game against Penn State that I attended last season so I had a 2010 custom card at the ready for him. Matt is now the Friday pitcher for the Boilers. He is the one they turn to when they want to start a series off right. He has been performing well so far this season. (more…)

2011 csd Custom – Blake Mascarello

Here is the first Purdue card of the 2011 set. I thought that I would post one of a former member of the Duneland conference to start things off. Mascarello is a former Crown Point Bulldog. I am used to seeing him in shoulder pads, but he did alright on the mound a couple of weeks ago. Blake came into the Saturday game against the Wolverines and pitched very well. (more…)

2011 csd Preview – Matt Morgan

For some reason it seems like every time that I see a Purdue game over the last couple of years Matt is pitching for the Boilermakers. I am not sure, but a couple of years ago I think that I was sitting with his parents or some sort of family watching him pitch against Ohio State. Last year he pitched the lone game that I saw Purdue play. (more…)

2010-2011 csd Basketball – Lewis Jackson

Lewis JacksonI took this picture of Lewis when he tried to dunk the ball against Michigan State earlier this season. I loved it right away because he is such a little guy that the picture looks great. A Purdue student took my picture and changed it for a t-shirt design that he had come up with. I liked his changes so much that I decided to make a card out of it. (more…)

2009-10 csd Basketball – E’Twaun Moore

Smooge has been very fun to watch during his time at Purdue. He may have never gotten the accolades of the other players in his class, but he has sure produced. He will leave the school as the #2 scorer ever with an outside shot of taking over the #1 spot. Barring overtime or something crazy this should post about the time E’Twaun is being recognized after the game. (more…)

2009-10 csd Basketball – Lewis Jackson

Lewis Jackson or LewJack as we call him has really come on of late. I did not have too many pictures of him from last season because he was out for so long with his foot injury. I don’t think that he was ever full strength, but he burned a possible redshirt year to help his team. (more…)

2009-10 csd Basketball – Kelsey Barlow

The next card in this set is of sophomore Kelsey Barlow. Kelsey is one of those guys who you really start to root for over time. He has all the skills, but just needs to put a few games together where he shows them all off. Right now is is mostly known for his highlight dunks, but he is so much more than that. He has really played well down the stretch for the Boilers. (more…)

2009-10 csd Basketball – Ryne Smith

The first player posted today who is on the team this season is Ryne Smith. Ryne started off the Big Ten season on a tear, but has since cooled off a bit. Even when his shot is cold though Ryne can make up for it on defense. He is a smart ballplayer that has a knack for disrupting the defense. (more…)

1990 Skybox – E’Twaun Moore

With Purdue starting a big game right now against Michigan State I thought that I would post this card of E’Twaun. I originally wanted to make a card for him becoming the fifth player in Purdue history to eclipse the 2,000 point mark. I made this base card first before putting the ribbon on it for the 2,000 point mark. I liked it so much plain that I decided to post it both with and without the ribbon. (more…)
