merging my pictures and cards

Omar Vizquel

1985 Donruss – Omar Vizquel

85 donruss omar vizquel

I had planned to post this card thanking the ageless infielder when he announced his retirement. I guess I missed that because I saw his name on a future Hall of Fame ballot meaning he must have finally hung up his cleats for good. I just liked the moment of Omar applauding the pitcher that was leaving the game, and I thought that it would be a good tribute to him. It is an old design that looks pretty bad to me now, but I like the original idea of the card so it will stay up on the site. (more…)

1951 Bowman – Omar Vizquel

I have been toying with the idea of making cards from 1950-the present day. I think that it might be a winter project, but that doesn’t mean I can’t try a new card every so often. While going through some pictures from Opening Day for my ’11 set I found this one of Omar. While I kid that he could have been playing back then I thought that it just looked like a pose from a classic card. That turned into finding a template to try it on. I found the ’51 Bowman template, and decided to give it a try. (more…)

1978 Topps – Omar Vizquel

Watching Omar play tonight I thought that it was time that I released this card of him. I still have a bunch of cards that I made while snowed in this winter. Instead of releasing them all at once I thought that it would be better to spread them out. It is now time for Omar to get another card on the site. (more…)

1983 Topps Super Veteran – Omar Vizquel

I was thinking about the career that Omar has had, and how it seems as if he had been around forerver. One of the sites that I like to read is called The Phillies Room. He makes custom cards as well, and calls his Chachi. While looking through his cards I saw that he updated the old Topps Super Veteran cards that came out in 1983. He had a very nice Jamie Moyer card that made me want to try my hand at this set. I will post my Moyer in the near future, but for now I thought I would start with the White Sox player who is still playing. I made the card from scratch so that I had a decent template to use. There are a couple differences, but I feel that I have kept the spirit of the card intact. (more…)

2011 csd Preview – Omar Vizquel

I was not too sure about the sanity of Kenny Williams last year when Omar was brought on with the Sox. He was one of two players still playing who had played in the 80’s. He came up around the same time as Yankees manager Joe Girardi. Omar really did seem to help the team though. I don’t think that it was a coincidence that Alexei Ramirez had a better season last year. That almost made me forget that he wears Luis Aparicio’s number. For his card in the normal set I have to get a picture of him with the likeness of Luis on the outfield wall in the background. I have some work to do. (more…)

1989 Upper Deck – Omar Vizquel

For some reason I seem to like to put all of my pictures of players sliding and on the ground on the 1989 Upper Deck card. I thought that I would start Saturation Saturday off with this card of Omar sliding into home against the Royals. I had so many cards of players on the ground in some capacity in this set I thought I would post a few of them today. (more…)
