2011 csd All Star Glossy – Jose Reyes

I thought that it was time to post a couple of my All Star cards again. Jose is a player that seems to be on this team every year. He is an exciting shortstop that does pretty well in the bright lights of New York. (more…)

1975 Topps – Bruce Chen

Here is another color combination I came up with for the ’75 Topps tribute cards I have been making. This was a color combination that I am not too fond of, but for some reason I like how this card turned out. It has a very nice balance to it for some reason. (more…)

1975 Topps – Brandon Phillips

I was never too sure exactly what I thought of Brandon until I saw him play in 2009. As one of the bigger names on that Reds team you would have thought that he would have had a bigger head. Instead of hanging out in the clubhouse before the game he spent most of that time signing as many autographs as he could. That put him on my list of players to watch, and got him a couple of extra cards on this site. (more…)

1982 Topps – Carlos Quentin

I think that it is pretty cool that one of my favorite players on the White Sox shares the same birthday that I do. He is six years younger than me, but I like the fact that he and I celebrate on the same day. I made this card a while ago, but like some cards that I make they take a while to find there way onto this site. I thought today would be the perfect day to post this card. (more…)

1989 Pro Set – Clay Matthews

Clay is a player that I did not know too much about when he was drafted by the Packers. He was not the big splash that you like to see teams make with their early draft picks. At least so I thought. He has become a force in the league that helped propel the team to the Super Bowl win last season. (more…)

1986 McDonald’s – Ryan Grant

Tonight there is a very slim chance that I attend the Packers game in Indy so I thought I would post some more of the cards that I made over the winter after the Pack won the Super Bowl. This McDonald’s design is very cool to me because I could not get them at the time. Where I lived I had to settle for Bears cards. Now through the magic of Photoshop I can have my own. (more…)

1985 Topps – Rob Henry

I finally have internet access again although it is only a one day deal. I hopefully will be back up and running by tomorrow. I have been gone it seems like forever. In that time one of the highlights of this upcoming football season has now gone away. Rob Henry went down with a torn ACL yesterday in practice. Last season he came out of nowhere to provide a lot of excitement right away. His fleet feet behind center gave Purdue its first road win against a ranked opponent in his first start at Northwestern. I will be sad that he isn’t on the field this season, but I am still excited for the football season that will start in a little over a week. (more…)

1939 Play Ball – George Gick

Over the next few days I will be moving to West Lafayette from Northern Indiana. I don’t know when I will have internet again so this may be my last card for a few days. I wanted to post this card of George because his story is a new one to me. I ran into his daughter while working here in town and saw the above picture hanging on her wall. I recognized the uniform immediately and inquired about it. She said that it was her father and that he played for the White Sox in the 30’s. (more…)

Bronzed Heroes – Tom Seaver

One of the great things about this set is that I get to make a card of Tom Seaver. I have an unwritten rule that I can only use my pictures for cards. That makes it very hard to get some players on a card. This set allows me to make cards of players that I admired growing up, but do not have any pictures of. Tom is one of those guys. I loved watching him pitch for the White Sox, and every August I relive his 300th win. In honor of that I thought it would be the perfect time to put this card up on the site. (more…)

Bronzed Heroes – George H.W. Bush

The thing that I like about this set is that it not entirely sports related. This site will never delve into the political arena to express my views. That is not really what it is about. I do like looking at some of the Presidents though so they will show up from time to time. With the Presidential run for the nomination heating up I thought that I should post this card of George H.W. Bush. This card is a not entirely without a sports story as George was the captain of the Yale baseball team. (more…)

Bronzed Heroes – Frank White

I have not posted any of my bronzed heroes cards in a while. I love the idea of the set, but I have been having fun making cards that I have not made before. I decided to post a few of these today after making several yesterday. I have a knack for taking pictures of statues when I visit a new place. This set is a way of putting these pictures to use. (more…)

1985 Topps – Carlos Quentin

While making the Dan Dierking cards earlier today I decided to try a baseball card. I probably would never have thought of doing this, but I saw this exact make of card used for a Josh Hamilton card on A Hair Off Square earlier this year. I figured why not give it a try. Carlos is one of my favorite Sox players because we share a birthday. He seems to have been given all of the baseball skills though. (more…)

1985 Topps (Box Bottom) – Dan Dierking

I had this template for the ’85 Topps football card and thought that I would try and make one of the very red box bottom cards. Maybe I am just over nostalgic, but I like this card as well. It is very red, but does show off the card very well. I don’t know that I will make too many of these, but I might make a couple more of them. (more…)

1985 Topps – Dan Dierking

I made a half-hearted attempt at this card last year before I knew my way around Photoshop. I thought that I would try and update the card to how I remember it. I really like how this card looks, and I may even try a couple with baseball players on them. This is a classic simple design, but for some reason I really like it. I chose Dan Dierking to kick off this set because I really enjoyed watching him play for four years at Purdue. With a little size he would have been a monster. His reckless abandon on kickoff team was fun to watch. (more…)

2011 csd All Star Glossy – Ryan Braun

Ryan is a very good baseball player that would probably be a much bigger star if he played in a big market. He is a player that is exciting to watch, and it was good to see him get the recognition of being in the All Star game. (more…)

1915 Cracker Jack – Derek Jeter

Last winter I tried to make some older cards. This is one of those that I tried. I made a Paul Konerko version and this one at the same time. I realized that I really needed to do some tweaking on this one, but thought that since this is how I made it then it should get released that way. I like the idea of the set, and will work on this one a little before putting another one out. (more…)

1987 Fleer – A.J. Pierzynski

This is one of the cards I made just after last season when I thought that A.J. would not be back with the Sox. I wanted to have his cards on here for a couple of days since he is one of my favorite Sox players. I wanted to use this template because it is still one of my favorites from my childhood. I like how the card looks, and look forward to updating this template so that it looks a little better. (more…)

1987 Topps – Nick Castellanos

When I go and see a minor league team for the first time I always check out the roster for players that are highly regarded. Nick was very highly thought of in the Tigers organization. I don’t know if he is living up to expectations, but he is still one of the players on their top 10 list. (more…)

1988 Topps – Matt Jackson

Matt pitched game two of a doubleheader that I saw earlier this season. He was not the pitcher that I was looking forward to seeing, but he had the better game of the two by far. As with Adam Dominick he warmed up right in front of me giving me a great view to get a couple of pictures from. (more…)

1988 Topps – Adam Dominick

It has been a few weeks since I had a Minor League Monday segment on this site. Today seems like a good day to bring it back. I would like to post some of these cards that have just been sitting in a folder since April. Let’s see how many I can get through. (more…)

1983 Topps – Brent Lillibridge

The other card I made tonight for Brent is this look at the ’83 Topps design. I normally make my own templates, but I loved the one Clinton uses over at A Hair Off Square so I asked him if I could use it. Thankfully he is a great guy and let me use it. I will have to make a couple more of these to get some use out of the template. (more…)

1984 Fleer – Brent Lillibridge

Brent has had a pretty good last couple of days while getting some playing time in the outfield for the White Sox. I have seen him hit two home runs in two days watching limited parts of the two games. I thought that I should make a couple of cards of the young guy to give him some love on this site. I like the simplicity of the ’84 Fleer template so I thought I would use that for the first card. I added the updated logo just to see how it looked. I think that it look pretty cool. (more…)

1977 Topps – Paul Konerko

Just to show that I have not lost my marbles and become a Cub fan I thought that I would post a card of Paul Konerko to round out the night. I have posted more cards of Paul than any other player. That is fitting because I have seen Paul play more than any other player in person. He is one of my favorites so I am sure that there will be many more cards of his to come in the future. (more…)

1993 Donruss – Jeff Samardzija

Jeff is a player that I have followed for a while now. He played sports at nearby Valparaiso high school then starred in football and basketball at Notre Dame. From there he has risen to the Majors playing in nearby Peoria and Iowa before ending up with the Cubs. He has stayed near the area making his rise fun to watch. (more…)
