1986 Topps – Lance Breedlove

I made this card for Lance last season after seeing him pitch for the Boilers. It was meant to be placed on the back of my 2011 custom card, but that card was never made. Now this card sits as a standalone card. I thought that I would post this card today because Lance has been getting some recognition following his 11 strikeout performance this past weekend in the Big East/Big Ten Challenge in Florida. He was named Big Ten pitcher of the week, and today started seeing some National pitcher of the week awards come his way. This could be a great season for the Boilers. (more…)

1984 Topps – Kris Staats

I guess that today I will have a theme of former Slicers on the blog. I thought that since I created a new tab for former Slicers that I should add some cards to the list. I watched Kris as part of a record setting LaPorte Slicer offense in 2005. He then made his mark at Purdue as the holder on field goals. It was nice to see a local kid playing for my Boilers.  (more…)

1985 Fleer In Action – Ricardo Allen

In a few minutes I will be leaving to watch the Boilermakers open up the season against Middle Tennessee State. It is not the biggest matchup in the nation today, but it is the most interesting to me. I thought that I would celebrate the opening of football season with a custom card. This is a custom card blog after all. For some reason I have been wanting to try the ’85 Fleer Football cards for a while. I made this one very quickly so it may be a bit off, but for the most part it captures the essence of that card. (more…)

1990 Pro Set Draft Pick – Ryan Kerrigan

Since Ryan was the highest draft pick since Rod Woodson in 1987 I thought that I would make a few cards of him. This one is a tribute to the ’90 Pro Set card. Unlike most of the football cards I have done so far I made this one from scratch. The design was so simple that it was probably easier than altering an actual card. I changed it up a little to reflect the fact that Ryan was a draft pick this year as well. Overall I think the card did not turn out too bad. (more…)

2011 csd Custom – Brad Schreiber

With the card that I posted earlier today you knew that this one was coming. When I get into the Major League cards a little more I won’t have to make as many cards for the back. I was not too big into making college cards last year so I had to make a few cards before I could make the main card. I don’t have the fancy team logo for Purdue so I had to make one work. I like the look of the card though, and there are a few more on the way. (more…)

1985 Topps – Brad Schreiber

Once again I have to release this card before I can release the next one. I decided to keep the team unified I would make all the ‘extra’ cards for the Boilers in the ’85 Topps format. I already had a few from last year’s set made so I just had to make a few more to finish off the set. I really like how the Boilers look in this set so it will not hurt my feelings any to see a few more of these cards. (more…)

2011 csd Custom – Matt Morgan

After having to make two cards lately to make one it is nice to just make the custom card. As I have said before it seems like I end up seeing Matt pitch every time that I attend a Purdue game. He pitched the game against Penn State that I attended last season so I had a 2010 custom card at the ready for him. Matt is now the Friday pitcher for the Boilers. He is the one they turn to when they want to start a series off right. He has been performing well so far this season. (more…)

2011 csd Preview – Kevin Plawecki

Kevin had a very good freshman year for the Boilermakers last season. He is expected to do great things at Purdue. I had fun watching him last season before I knew anything about him. Looking at his name I would guess that he from Polish descent like myself. He also plays my favorite position so he has a lot going for him in my book. (more…)

2011 csd Preview – Tyler Spillner

I will be gone today in West Lafayette for a couple of things. One of those things though will be seeing the Purdue Boilermakers play baseball for the first time this season. I thought that I could release a couple of my preview cards today since any card I make with this year’s pictures will go in the regular set. (more…)

2009-10 csd Basketball – Kelsey Barlow

The next card in this set is of sophomore Kelsey Barlow. Kelsey is one of those guys who you really start to root for over time. He has all the skills, but just needs to put a few games together where he shows them all off. Right now is is mostly known for his highlight dunks, but he is so much more than that. He has really played well down the stretch for the Boilers. (more…)
