Just to show that I have not lost my marbles and become a Cub fan I thought that I would post a card of Paul Konerko to round out the night. I have posted more cards of Paul than any other player. That is fitting because I have seen Paul play more than any other player in person. He is one of my favorites so I am sure that there will be many more cards of his to come in the future. (more…)
1966 Topps – Paul Konerko
Last year I was focused on making a set based on the ’85 Topps set. I started just for fun making a card of Gordon Beckham. Then I decided to make a set of the White Sox players. From there it branched out to making a set of ’85 Topps cards with players from all teams that I have seen. A natural next step in that was to branch out to other sets. This ’66 Topps Paul Konerko card was an early attempt at that. As I have said before I am making new templates that are easier to use so I am releasing some of these cards that have sat in a folder on my computer. (more…)
1970 Topps – Paul Konerko
Continuing the theme of getting some older cards on the blog I am posting this 1970 Topps card of Paul Konerko. I made this card with an old program, and I made it very hard on myself to make cards of different players. With some knowledge gained over the past year of making these cards I have come up with ways to make multiple cards fairly easy. 1964 Topps – Paul Konerko
I have four cards that have been sitting in my folder for some time. I have new templates for these cards so before I release any new cards with the new templates I feel I should post the cards that I made over the winter. I made a few cards of Paulie in a White Sox jersey this winter because I was not sure if he would be in that jersey this summer. 2011 csd All Star Glossy – Paul Konerko
After a great campaign by the White Sox it was announced tonight that Paul Konerko was voted into the All Star game by the fans. It is great that Paul was voted in, but I really don’t think that it should have come down to that. Since the start of last season on one player has had better numbers than Paulie. I am glad that the people made the right choice, and put him in the game. (more…)
1976 Topps – Paul Konerko
I really wanted to make this card of Paulie. 1976 is his birth year, and I loved the card that Steve at White Sox Cards made for him. I couldn’t find a template to make though. Then it dawned on me that the obvious template was Steve’s Konerko card. I stole the image from his site, and cropped the card to put my picture on it. Paulie hit a two run dinger in the first inning tonight to give the Sox a 3-0 lead in the first so I thought now was the time to put this card out. (more…)
1983 Topps – Paul Konerko/Carlton Fisk
Watching the Sox game tonight I saw Paul Konerko hit a home run over the Green Monster to give the White Sox a 3-1 lead over the Red Sox. The home run was important because it was the 376th of Paulie’s career. That tied him with Carlton Fisk for 66th all time. This is important to me because two of my favorite players of all time are now linked for what I hope is a very short period. The event inspired me to make my first card in quite some time. I thought that I would post it right away so that others could enjoy it. I posted the card as a 1983 Topps because I just basically tweaked my ’83 Topps Super Veteran template to make the card. 1987 Fleer – Paul Konerko
Paulie might be the player on the Sox that I relate to the most on the Sox. Maybe it is because he is about as slow as I am. He is the captain of the White Sox, and I was glad to see that he was re-signed this off season. (more…)
1984 Topps – Paul Konerko (Black)
Part of the reason I did not change the normal looking ’84 Topps Konerko card was because I knew I had this in the barrel as well. I was just wondering what the ’84 Topps Sox card would look like with today’s colors. This is what I came up with. I really like how the colors look on the card. The ’89 Fleer updated card looked good as well. I may have to try a few more of these. Instead of a neon color behind the inset picture I have just put gray. I thought it looked better. (more…)

This was one (if not the first) 1984 Topps cards that I attempted. As I said with the Beckham card I really like the design, but the need for the close up picture makes is hard to get them for most players. I have to be very close to the action to get what I need for these cards. (more…)
2011 csd Preview – Ramon Castro
Ramon came to the Sox to be the backup to A.J. Pierzynski at catcher. That has to be a fairly easy job as A.J. does not like to sit out many games. Ramon has made the most of his chances though. He caught Mark Buehrle’s perfect game in 2009. From what I have seen in batting practice he has a lot of power as well. He hits some tape measure shots when they are just thrown in there. If he could only transfer that to the games. (more…)
2011 csd Preview – Paul Konerko
Finally I have gotten around to posting the preview card of the White Sox captain. For a while it was very much up in the air whether or not Paulie would be back with the White Sox this season. I am glad he is back though, and I look forward to the things that he can do this season with Adam Dunn batting behind him.

1987 Donruss Diamond King – Paul Konerko
How can you talk about Donruss all day without mentioning the Diamond Kings? Diamond Kings were one of the coolest parts of the set as a kid. Who would be crowned king this year? Who would the Sox king be? I made this card early on in the custom card days so it is a little rough, but I put a lot of work into it so why not post it? (more…)
1915 Cracker Jack – Paul Konerko
Since I am breaking new ground I might as well smash it. After posting the 1952 Topps card today I thought I would try a Cracker Jack card. The card was interesting to make because I had to basically do it from scratch. I had the actual card in photoshop, but to make the backgrounds match I had to erase everything in the red. I found some fonts that looked close to the 1915 design. I also had some trouble getting the picture to match. In the end I am not too sure what to think of the card. I have a Jeter card that I made at the same time, but I am not sure if it will ever see the light of day. I may have to try another and see if I can do better. (more…)
1955 Bowman – Paul Konerko
I must have a thing for wood cards today. After making a couple 1962 Topps cards I thought I would try my hand at the 1955 Topps card. This is now the oldest card that I have tried to make. It seemed simple enough to make, but for some reason I couldn’t find one with enough resolution to do a good cutout for the picture. I liked how the card turned out though so it was worth it. (more…)
1984 Ralston Purina – Paul Konerko
This is another of the cards that I made last night while the snow was piling up outside. As a kid these smaller sets were like gold. Our local card store was actually a jewelery store with a small section in the back with baseball cards. They mostly dealt in the large sets so these cards were rare. That might be why I like them so much. They were so rare to me as a child that now they now seem like something much bigger than they actually are. I liked the idea of trying to make one of these cards. (more…)
1989 Fleer – Paul Konerko
This is sort of a first for this site. Usually I try and stay as close to the original card as I can. In this case I thought that I would try the updated logo on the 89 Fleer. When I did that I had to change the upper and lower bars to black instead of red as they were on the original card. I still remember this set from back in the day, and as with all of them it seems, it is one of my favorites. I was happy to finally be able to get this card done. I am not sure if future 89 Fleer cards will look like the originals or if they will be modified like this one. Let me know which one you prefer. (more…)
1957 Topps – Paul Konerko
I made up a few cards of both Paulie and A.J. after the season in case they left. I am glad that they came back, but now I have a few just sitting around. Here is my attempt at re-creating the 1957 Topps card. It is from scratch, but there is not a whole lot to the card. The pictures that you can put on these cards are hard to come by as a fan. Those cards were mostly posed shots. I will have to work on getting a couple for the set next year. (more…)
