1986 Topps – Gary Carter Tribute (1975-1978)

This morning I woke up to hear the news that Gary Carter had passed. As a kid that grew up in the 80’s and followed catchers Gary was a fun player to watch. Sometimes I didn’t give him the credit he deserved because that would have taken some away from my favorite player Carlton Fisk. I practiced all of the catcher drills that Gary showed me on a Mickey Mantle instructional video as a kid. The only problem was that I was left handed and would never play catcher. I was sad to hear of his passing so I thought that I could start a tribute set for Gary much like the one that I created for Carlton a few months ago. (more…)

1986 Topps – Carlos Beltran

With all the rumors swirling around about Carlos Beltran I figured that I had better post this card quick while he is still a member of the Mets. I thought that it would be cool to make some cards of both the Mets and the Red Sox with the ’86 Topps template. This fall will be 25 years since that great World Series. I used some older pictures of players that were no longer on either team, but I did have a few pictures of current players. For the time being Carlos is still a Met. (more…)

1985 Topps Famous Lineage – Wally Backman Jr.

I have seen Wally play Independent ball a couple of times now. The first time was for the Joliet Jackhammers with his father as the manager. Most recently I saw him play for the Sioux City Explorers of the American Association. I always liked Wally so it was a given that I would get this card into the set. Father’s day seemed like a great day to roll some of these cards out. (more…)

1987 Topps – David Wright

This card has been sitting in a folder on my computer for a while. I made a ton of ’87 Topps cards during the snowpocolypse. I have put many of them on the site so far, but I still have a few sitting around waiting to be released. For some reason I still really like this set. I think that it has stood up well over time. (more…)

1986 Topps – Ryan Church

Earlier this winter I came up with the crazy idea of making Mets cards on the ’86 Topps template. I haven’t seen the Mets play since 2008 so the pictures are quite old. As big as the 1985 World Series was for me as a kid the ’86 Series was huge. I watched almost every minute of it on TV. I loved the ’86 Topps set so it was only natural to try and make some of them. (more…)

1986 Topps – David Wright

Since it has been 25 years since the Mets won the World Series against the Red Sox I thought that it would be great to come up with a retro set for them. I started making these cards a while back, and hopefully will get them out as the season progresses. What better guy to have on the card than David Wright? (more…)

1985 Topps – Casey Stengel

I loved this statue when we were touring the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY. Something about it was just very cool. I decided that I should make a card out of it. This was originally part of the short print set I was making. (more…)

1989 Upper Deck – Jose Reyes

The dump of sideways 1989 Upper Deck cards continues with this Jose Reyes card. As I have said before I have too many cards in this set due to the fact I put every picture that would look better sideways on this card. I have to make a couple other templates that will take the sideways picture, but until then I need to clear my computer of some of these. (more…)

1986 Topps – John Maine

Since they won their title 25 years ago I made a few 1986 Topps Mets cards a while back. I explained that the reason why was because I made a killing trading the Mets cards back in the day for Sox cards. Everyone wanted the cards of the World Champs. (more…)

2011 csd Preview – David Wright

I have been having fun making cards for each team. With all the snow on the ground there really is not a whole lot going on. I took this picture in 2008 when we made our trip to New York to see both ballparks before they were torn down. I was pretty far away from David, so I was surprised at how well the picture looks on the card. Usually the long shots don’t blow up so well. I guess the conditions were perfect for my camera settings that day. (more…)

1986 Topps – Johan Santana

Johan was one of the dominant pitchers if the the dominant pitcher in the American League Central during his time with the Twins. That is why it did not break my heart when he signed a contract to play in New York for the Mets. He has not really had the same type of sucess in New York as he had in Minnesota. (more…)
