merging my pictures and cards

2011 csd Custom – Travis Hafner

I really did not get too many pictures of the Indians players on Opening Day. I was really concentrating on the White Sox. The sun ended up glaring right into my lens for most of the game so I really did not get too many good pictures. I could have moved almost anywhere else the other two days, but on Opening Day the park was packed. I did try and get a few players though when I could, and one of the was Travis Hafner. Travis was one of the most feared sluggers in the league not too long ago, and he would like to get back there soon. The Indians would like that as well. This is another card that I cheated on. Travis rarely plays first base, but I have him as a first baseman on the card. The term designated hitter takes up too much room, and just putting DH makes is look weird because it is too short. I have just started putting first base for the player to make it look better. (more…)

2011 csd Custom – Carlos Santana

As I said earlier tonight Carlos is a very exciting young player. I heard about him a lot on the site Bus Leagues Baseball, and from what I have seen so far he was worth the hype. As a good young catcher you know that I will have a few cards of him. He has already had a card in the short lived Opening Day set, and he makes his regular set debut with this card. (more…)

2011 csd Custom – Shin Soo Choo

Choo is one of the bright spots on the Indians. On the way home from the Opening Day game I was listening to their local sports radio. The fans really hated the team that was on the field with a couple of exceptions. Choo was one of those players. He really does have a cannon in right, and can hit the ball as well. (more…)

1987 Topps – Shin Soo Choo

As a fan of the opposing team in Cleveland one thing that annoyed me while at the game was the way the fans kept saying Chooo (as in Boooo) every time he touched the ball. Even if he made a routine catch they chanted his name. That being said he is a dynamic player that the fans can get excited about. I am sure that opposing fans thought the same thing of the Jose Jose Jose chants or the Magglio one they used to do on the South Side. (more…)

2011 csd Custom – Sandy Alomar Jr.

For some reason I liked Sandy Alomar Jr. from early on in his career. I thought it was great that he was a member of the White Sox both times that he was on the team even though it was very late in his career. He is now coaching first base for Cleveland. He has now made both sets that I have done. It doesn’t hurt that he was a catcher. (more…)

2011 csd Preview – Travis Hafner

Travis was once on of the most feared hitters in the league and a fan favorite in Cleveland. From what I saw and heard on Opening Day he is not loved as much by the fans. Injuries have really made it hard for Travis to get anything going the last few seasons. (more…)

2011 csd Preview – Luke Carlin

This is another example of a card getting in because of the picture. I know that I need to get this set completely posted so that I can start making the regular 2011 set. I was going to just trash this card, but I really like the picture on it so it stays. (more…)

2011 csd Opening Day – Carlos Santana

I have heard about Santana for a while now thanks to Bus Leagues Baseball. At first the interest in the slugger was purely because he shares a name with the famous guitarist. Now I think it won’t be long before people recognize the Indians catcher before they would the rock icon. Carlos had a good game on Opening Day hitting his first home run of the season. I think that the home run he hit will have some company before the season is over. (more…)

1993 Donruss – Carlos Santana

Why am I making a retro card when there are so many cards to make for my various original sets? The answer is simple. I wanted to put my own card on the back of the Opening Day Carlos Santana card, and I had not yet seen him play to have a card to put on the card. Instead of using another card I just thought I would make my own card. I really like how this ’93 Donruss set looks so I thought that I would put the picture on this card. (more…)

2011 csd Preview – Jayson Nix

Of course waiting to post cards can come back to haunt you. I might have just waited a little too long to post my card of Jayson Nix. He was released yesterday from the Indians, and reportedly signed with the Blue Jays. I was saving the Indians cards for Opening weekend, but decided that this one should be released now. (more…)

2011 csd Preview – Sandy Alomar Jr.

I normally would not do a card of a base coach, but I liked Sandy enough as a player that he makes the set. I loved watching him play before he joined the White Sox. I was very happy when he came over to them at the end of his career. It seems like the Sox have a knack for picking up good players when they are past their prime. (more…)

1989 Upper Deck – Franklin Gutierrez

I have liked this picture ever since I took it in 2008. I wanted to fit it into the set last year, but Franklin was not on the Indians anymore. Since I decided to just make some cards I was able to finally use it. For some reason part of Franklin’s pregame ritual was to stand on his head. For some reason I was taking pictures, and luckily enough just so happened to see it at the right time to capture it. I really lucked out here. (more…)

2011 csd Preview – Grady Sizemore

Grady is a great center fielder. The picture above does not show it, but he really is a great athlete. If you have seen his pictures that he posted online with his camera phone he is built as well. When looking for his rookie card for the back of this edition I stumbled upon a couple of custom cards that people had made of his cell phone pictures. Those were pretty good. As it says on the back of the card this picture was taken on what should have been the last day of the regular season in 2008 as Grady was warming up before the game. I really don’t have too many good pictures of Sizemore because I either have bad seats, or he was injured that game. Maybe this year I can see him play again. (more…)

1985 Topps – Travis Hafner

I have decided that last years set will now have to be labeled as 1985 Topps. That way I can keep adding to it as time goes on. I like the set so much that I wouldn’t mind seeing a few more guys in it over time. I liked the idea of mimking a set for the year, but may have to step out onto my own for the 2011 set. We will see how that goes. I am not very good at using Photoshop so the 2011 set may be another copy. (more…)

Bob Feller

I made this card a while back of Bob signing for me at his museum. It was part of the short print series from the set I was making this year. I had been to his museum three times before I met him. When I did he was nice as could be, and even gave me a great baseball for my collection. I already had a ball signed with just his name. I wanted something special, and he gave that to me. He signed the ball with an inscription that commemorated his Opening Day no-hitter against the White Sox. That has to tell you what a sick fan I am when I want a ball signed with something like that. It was a long inscription, but Bob did it with no problem. I was glad for the chance to meet him. (more…)

Sandy Alomar Jr.

On the last day of the season the Indians were in town, and I had a great seat near first base. Coaching first for the Indians was none other than Sandy Alomar Jr. When he came up I was a huge fan of his. He was one of the hot prospects that was tabbed to have a great career. He did not have a Hall of Fame career, but it was not too shabby either. (more…)

1983 #1 Draft Pick – Tim Belcher
