2011 csd Preview – Shane Victorino

Shane is a player that has an interesting story. He was selected in the Rule 5 draft twice. It took him a while to crack the bigs, but once he did he became a fan favorite. He got a little playing time when Aaron Rowand was injured, then more when Bobby Abreu was traded, and has been a fixture ever since. (more…)

2011 csd Preview – Jose Contreras

As I said in a post a couple of days ago I was never too high on Jose as a member of the White Sox until his last season with the club. He has now had a successful run with Philly as a reliever. I really like the look of this card. The red on the side really looks great. (more…)

1987 Topps – Roy Halladay

After playing a little of the new MLB 2K11 game today I decided to post a couple of cards of the man on the cover. Roy is a great pitcher that is coming off of a great season. I really can’t think of too many people more deserving to be on the cover honestly. Last season he pitched a perfect game in the regular season, and then capped it off with a no-hitter in the post season. He is truly one of the elite pitchers in the league. (more…)

2011 csd Preview – Roy Halladay

Since Roy is the cover boy for the New MLB 2k11 game that came out today I thought that I would end the night with a couple cards of the ace pitcher. I am really starting to like my set again. For a while I was having too much fun with other cards, but I have been having fun making some of these teams that I have not made before. I wanted to try and make as many teams before the season started so that I had a template when I started getting the new pictures in. It turns out I am making a completely new set in the process. I guess this is like my version of the Topps Opening Day set. (more…)

1989 Upper Deck – Jimmy Rollins

Saturation Saturday continues with this card of Jimmy Rollins. When I saw the Phillies play the Cubs in July I was worried that my seats in the bleachers would prevent me from seeing the Phillies stars. It turned out I did not get the pictures that I would have liked to get of Roy Halladay and Ryan Howard. (more…)

1985 Topps – Jamie Moyer

Jamie almost had this card for real. He is one of the few players in the league that was playing when I was really collecting cards. He will not play this season due to injury, but has left the door open to play next season. (more…)

1985 Topps – Cole Hamels

Cole is another of the Phillies players I saw when they came to Chicago. The team is so full of stars that I ended up with quite a few cards from that day even though I was in the bleachers where good pictures are hard to come by. Luckily the Phillies seemed to like to turn and look at the crowd during batting practice so I got a few pictures that were not the backs of their warm up jerseys. Cole was getting some heat from the Wrigley crowd as is expected I guess, but just gave them looks as if to say “I make millions how about you?” I caught him one of those times, and thought it would look good on a card.
