1984 Topps

1984 Topps – Paul Konerko

This was one (if not the first) 1984 Topps cards that I attempted. As I said with the Beckham card I really like the design, but the need for the close up picture makes is hard to get them for most players. I have to be very close to the action to get what I need for these cards. (more…)

1984 Topps – Gordon Beckham

I really like the 1984 Topps design. The problem is that it is hard to recreate the font on the side of the card. For this one I cheated and used the actual writing from a Sox card. The design is a little tricky because I not only need a shot for the card, but I also need a close up for the bottom left hand corner. That really will limit how many of these that I can make. 1984 Topps – Brian Bannister

Brian is no longer a Major League Pitcher, but that doesn’t mean that I can’t make any more cards of him. Brian will be playing this season in Japan instead of over here. Thankfully he played for the Royals last season. If you read the blog you know that I made way too big of a deal about last year being the 25th anniversary of my first Major League Baseball game. Brian’s dad Floyd pitched that first game so I thought that it was cool that I saw Brian pitch 25 years later. I ended up seeing him pitch twice last season. (more…)

1984 Topps – Chris Getz

I still am not to sure about these 1984 Topps cards. I guess if Topps can update their cards for the newer sets so can I. I decided to make my own template so that I could make different teams a little easier. I could not get the team font right. On some teams it looks alright, and others it does not. This is one card that looks okay, but not perfect. I will have to keep working on this one. If anyone knows the name of the font suggestions would be awesome. (more…)

1984 Topps – Miguel Cabrera

I like the idea of coming up with sets for the World Champs. In 1984 the Tigers took home the hardware. I had the 1986 Mets card earlier in the day so I thought I would post a 1984 Topps card of a Tiger player. Miguel Cabrera is one of the best players in the league. He is a feared hitter that has been dominant almost from day one in the bigs. (more…)

1984 Topps – Albert Pujols

This card I am still not too sure about. I tried to make my own 1984 Topps card so that it would be easier to make multiple teams. I had a lot of trouble making the team font on the left look right. For teams like the Twins it looked good, but it looks off for this card. I like the set though so I will try to make it right. (more…)

1984 Topps – Mark Buehrle

One of the hardest sets for me to make so far has been this one. The card is simple, but trying to get the team name to look good was the hardest part. I ended up just doing a little cut and paste of the text and placing it on my card that I had made. I don’t think the card turned out badly. I love the set and would love to make more of them. The one problem is that you have to have a close up of the player for the box in the lower left hand corner. I have a couple more of these waiting around, but I need more headshots before I can get any more made. I guess I have a goal for this season. (more…)
