merging my pictures and cards

1984 Topps

1984 Topps – Justin Upton

This is yet another card that was made during the ‘snowpocolypse’ while I was snowed in. I was extremely bored so I went through some of my older pictures looking for cards. I loved the 1984 Topps set because it was the first card that I ever collected. The trouble was that I needed a close of up the head for the inset picture. I could only make cards of players that I have seen up close. (more…)

1984 Topps – Brendan Ryan

This is one card that I really like. One reason is that I was able get the ‘stache that Brendan was rocking in 2009 onto a card. The other reason is that I loved how he wore his socks high, and even had the old school Cardinal socks on. Instead of using parts from the ’84 Topps card I just made this one from scratch. I think that I got the type close enough for what I am doing here. Brendan is no longer on the Cardinals so I thought I would make a couple cards of him using some pictures I had lying around. I always enjoyed watching him play. (more…)

1984 Topps – Paul Konerko (Black)

Part of the reason I did not change the normal looking ’84 Topps Konerko card was because I knew I had this in the barrel as well. I was just wondering what the ’84 Topps Sox card would look like with today’s colors. This is what I came up with. I really like how the colors look on the card. The ’89 Fleer updated card looked good as well. I may have to try a few more of these. Instead of a neon color behind the inset picture I have just put gray. I thought it looked better. (more…)

1984 Topps – Paul Konerko

This was one (if not the first) 1984 Topps cards that I attempted. As I said with the Beckham card I really like the design, but the need for the close up picture makes is hard to get them for most players. I have to be very close to the action to get what I need for these cards. (more…)

1984 Topps – Gordon Beckham

I really like the 1984 Topps design. The problem is that it is hard to recreate the font on the side of the card. For this one I cheated and used the actual writing from a Sox card. The design is a little tricky because I not only need a shot for the card, but I also need a close up for the bottom left hand corner. That really will limit how many of these that I can make. (more…)

1984 Topps – Brian Bannister

Brian is no longer a Major League Pitcher, but that doesn’t mean that I can’t make any more cards of him. Brian will be playing this season in Japan instead of over here. Thankfully he played for the Royals last season. If you read the blog you know that I made way too big of a deal about last year being the 25th anniversary of my first Major League Baseball game. Brian’s dad Floyd pitched that first game so I thought that it was cool that I saw Brian pitch 25 years later. I ended up seeing him pitch twice last season. (more…)

1984 Topps – Chris Getz

I still am not to sure about these 1984 Topps cards. I guess if Topps can update their cards for the newer sets so can I. I decided to make my own template so that I could make different teams a little easier. I could not get the team font right. On some teams it looks alright, and others it does not. This is one card that looks okay, but not perfect. I will have to keep working on this one. If anyone knows the name of the font suggestions would be awesome. (more…)
