1988 Donruss – Jason Heyward
The final ’88 Donruss card of the day is of the J-Hey-Kid Jason Heyward. I don’t know that any rookie had the hype that Jason had last season. He was the #1 prospect coming into the season. He backed that up by hitting a 475 ft. home run in his first at bat off Cubs ace Carlos Zambrano. He was elected to the All Star game as a rookie, and really had a fine season.
That is why I was so glad to see him play when the Braves came to Chicago to play the White Sox. He was a much talked about rookie, and you are always excited to see them. The young players are the ones that keep you coming back for more. This picture was taken as Jason hit a ball back to Sox pitcher Mark Buehrle. Mark won a foot race to first for the out, but I got a couple great pictures out of the at bat that will end up on this site.
