1968 Topps – Rookie Stars

I love the older sets, and thought this was a good way to get some of the rookies who played with the Sox this season into the sets. Erick was called up for the Sox in July and pitched very well as a left handed reliever until he was injured. He had good stuff, and could be a good reliever someday. Lucas Harrell spent most of the season pitching for Charlotte in Triple A for the Sox. He was a starter there, but became a reliever when called up to the bigs. He did have one start in place of Jake Peavy earlier in the season. His first Major League appearance was a start. How hard does that have to be to prepare for? At least in the bullpen you might or might not get into the game. You don’t have too much time to think about it. When you start you have a lot of time to think about it. Lucas pitched well though, and I think we will see him again for the Sox.
